The field of study East Slavonic Philology belongs to the area of education in the humanities. The learning outcomes cover issues from two disciplines, i.e. linguistics and literary studies.

The field of study of East Slavic philology for full-time first degree studies includes the following specialisations:
- Belorussian philology
- Russian philology
- Russian philology with English philology
- Russian philology with Ukrainian philology
- Russian philology with applied linguistics
- Ukrainian philology 
- Ukrainian philology with English Philology

The study programme enables you to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the fields of linguistics, literary and cultural studies, as well as a high degree of skill and competence in the practical knowledge of the foreign language(s), i.e. the major languages within the individual study specialisations.

Equipping graduates with the knowledge and skills to interpret the linguistic, literary and cultural phenomena and contexts of the East Slavic area and - depending on the chosen specialisation - the English or German language area, while confronting them with native cultural and linguistic competence, will allow them to use this knowledge and skills practically in professional work of a different nature, in which specialised linguistic and intercultural qualifications are required.

This qualification is obtained through a group of subjects, i.e. exercises, conversation classes, laboratories and workshops that make up the block of subjects related to practical knowledge of the foreign language(s) and subjects in the field of history, language, literature, literary and cultural comparative studies and socio-cultural realities of a specific language area.

The study programme makes it possible to acquire and improve fundamental competences and skills desired on the labour market, such as effective organisation of one's own work, responsibility in carrying out assigned tasks, the ability to work individually and in teams, the ability to make independent choices, awareness of the need for self-education and integration of knowledge from different disciplines.

First degree studies lead to a Bachelor's degree in East Slavic Philology and a chosen specialisation. Graduates may continue their studies in second-cycle studies in the same field of study and in other fields of study, where knowledge of Russian, Ukrainian and/or Belarusian language and English or German is required, as well as the ability to orient themselves appropriately in the socio-cultural realities of a specific language area.
