Major Astronomia
Astronomy is one of the basic fields of study in the canon of academic studies in the field of sciences. The Astronomical Observatory Institute at the Faculty of Physics of the Adam Mickiewicz University has the necessary staff, scientific, organizational and equipment potential required by law to conduct studies in the field of astronomy at the highest level. In accordance with over a hundred years of scientific tradition of the Astronomical Observatory, the Astronomy course offers education in classical astronomy and astrophysics, and moreover, deeper than in other centers knowledge of problems related to the motion and properties of asteroids (9 of which have already been named after our employees and graduates), comets and artificial Earth satellites. The educational program covers all important contemporary branches of astronomy and allows to adjust the graduate's profile and competences both to continue the scientific career at the university and to pursue a professional career in the dynamically developing sector of space technologies. Graduate profile:
- Graduates of second-degree studies in the field of Astronomy are prepared to undertake third-degree (doctoral) studies at domestic and foreign universities;
- When deciding on a professional career, they enter the labor market with the opinion of people who are able to make unconventional decisions, they will find employment in scientific, research and development institutions, and space agencies.;
- Graduates of our course are a highly qualified group of employees sought after on the global and domestic labor market in the space sector;
- The acquisition of broad IT competences, the ability to analyze large data sets (big data) and the use of machine learning gives graduates the opportunity to choose a career path in the information technology sector or the financial sector of the economy.

Semestr drugi to kontynuowanie zapoznawania się z matematycznymi i fizycznymi podstawami Astronomii. Na zajęciach z badań spektroskopowych przedstawione zostają w stopniu, pozwalającym na rozpoczęcie pracy badawczej najważniejsze zagadnienia z tej dziedziny. Student wybiera również wykład monograficzny i humanistyczny.
